Baptism Class – Sunday May 10th

If you have yet to be baptized biblically, we invite you to join Pastor Wright on Sunday, May 10th at 9:00 am in the education building, 2nd floor. This is a single-session study, so please don’t miss it. In this study you’ll learn from Scripture that water baptism is for believers, it is by immersion, and it depicts the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you haven’t yet experienced Biblical baptism, you need to come to this class and you need to be baptized. As Ananias said to Saul, “And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’” (Acts 22:16).

The study is intended to prepare you for water baptism.

Tacos, donuts, coffee and juice are served at the 9:00 am hour.

January 25th Church Status

With the forecast for severe winter weather onr Sunday, January, 25th, changes are being made to the schedule at ERCC:

  1. At this time, the 10:00 am worship will still be held for those able to attend.

  2. The 9:00 am Bible Study classes will be combined and taught by Elder Mike Faur in the auditorium (sorry, no breakfast tacos 😉

  3. The Special Presentation by the Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) scheduled for 6:00 pm has been rescheduled to the following Sunday, February 1st. No evening activities at ERCC on Jan 25th.

Christmas Caroling Dec 19, 6 pm

For our December event, we’ll reach out to Connally apartments by Christmas caroling! We’ll go to the doors of those we registered at the previous outreach events and give the children a gift bag with Christmas cookies and toys. We’ll depart from ERCC at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 19th and head to the apartments together.

Please join us and spread the love of Jesus and some Christmas cheer!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – 6 pm

John Keller will be leading the devotional service on Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm at ERCC. This is a brief but very sentimental time of worship as a church family as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. In this brief and intimate service, we’ll worship our Father for sending His Son into the world. Be part of this special gathering as we give thanks and glory to God.

Mission Resource Network

Mission Resource Network was established in 1998 to help autonomous congregations serve the mission of God more effectively. As we have grown, God has given MRN the opportunity to partner alongside both churches and missionaries so they can do missions more effectively.

On average, missionaries stay on the field two years. Missionaries who go through the MRN assessment and training stay twice as long. MRN has the community, wisdom, and expertise to help missionaries stay. Research has shown that 60% of missionaries come home prematurely for preventable reasons. As part of a partnership together, MRN includes missionary care so that they can stay healthy and effective.

Potluck Lunch After-Church Sept 14th

You won’t want to miss our Back-to-Church Mexican Potluck, at 11:40 am on Sunday September 14th. Please bring your favorite Mexican dish and sides. Bring enough for your own family and to share with your church family. The first Christians “ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (Acts 2:46). We enjoy the same fellowship today at ERCC!

Christmas Shoe Boxes Collection: Ends November 24th (11 a.m.)

shoeboxpicERCC is participating in “Operation Christmas Child” which is sponsored by the international relief fund Samaritan’s Purse.  To make the local drop-off date, we need your shoe boxes, wrapped and filled with toys dropped off in the ERCC lobby not later than:  Sunday Morning, November 24th

You can use a regular shoe box, a plastic box, or one of the free red & green plastic boxes located in the church lobby (first come, first serve).  If you have any questions, contact Wendy Gideon (email her HERE).

How to Pack a Shoebox

  1. Shoebox

    Use an empty cardboard or plastic shoebox (average size). You can wrap the box, lid separately, but wrapping is not required.

  2. Boy or Girl

    Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Download and print the appropriate boy/girl label. Mark the correct age category and tape the label to the top of your box.

  3. Fill With Gifts

    Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child (see Gift Suggestions).

  4. Include $10 Donation Per Box

    Help cover shipping and other costs related to delivering your shoeboxes to children overseas by donating $10 for each gift you prepare. You can give online to discover the destination of your box! Or, you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on the memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the items inside your shoebox. If you are preparing multiple gifts, please make one combined donation.
    Note: “Follow Your Box” is only available through online giving.

  5. Pray

    Ask God to use your gifts to show His love to the child who will receive your shoebox.

  6. Drop Off

    Place a rubber band around each closed shoebox and bring it to ERCC not-later-than Sunday Morning, November 24th.

Gift Suggestions

 

  • Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
  • School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  • Non-Liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.
  • Accessories: t-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
  • A Personal Note: You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and address, the child may be able to write back.
  • Do Not Include: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
